Emma Teather MCSP HPC
Emma graduated from the University of Bradford, July 2009 with a first class degree and the EMS student of the year award. Since qualifying Emma had learnt many new skills from the other CSPC physiotherapists and has continued her further leaning independently and completED the Manual Therapy Institute Classes – Patterns of dysfunction in the thoraco-lumbar-sacral region in July 2010.
Before Emma started her physiotherapy degree she gained her pilates matwork qualification in 2005 and throughout her degree, Emma has been teaching Pilates on the mat and for the last four years also on the reformer machines. Emma teaches around 20 hours of pilates a week, consisting of assessments, one to one classes, ball classes and mixed pilates equipment classes. In December 2010 Emma will complete The Level 3 Certificate in Teaching Matwork Pilates (CYQ) which will give her the highest level of qualification for pilates instructing. Emma also hopes to be involved in teaching the So Pilates instructor training course herself next summer.
As an athlete, Emma represented Great Britain at junior and senior level at springboard and high board diving from the age of 15. She qualified for two junior European and world championships, won a gold and silver medal at the six nations championships and travelled from Australia to Canada and many places in between during her career.Her greatest junior achievements are finishing third in the 2002 Junior European Championships in Geneva and finishing ninth in the final of the Junior World Championships in Aachen on the three meter springboard. At senior level Emma dived at international standard at the Rome Grand Prix and Mexico Grand Prix and narrowly missed out for her qualification for the Commonwealth games in Australia by 0.1 of a point in 2006. Now retired as an athlete, Emma has maintained her strong links to diving by teaching Pilates to the World Class Program; podium and development funded divers in Leeds. At the Great British National Cup 2010, Emma was the poolside physiotherapist for the non funded city of Leeds divers. Starting in 2010 Emma is very excited to be the British ASA diving talent development program physiotherapist and dance/pilates class instructor for various diving camps in the north, until 2013.
