Claire Merrett MCSP HPC

Claire graduated from Coventry University in 1992, first working at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth and then at Queen Mary’s Hospital Trust, Roehampton.

After marrying David in 1995 she moved to Boston USA for 2 years. After studying to get her Massachusetts Physical Therapy Licence she then worked at New England Medical Centre in the centre of Boston running the Musculoskeletal department.
When she returned to England, living in Surrey, Claire had a few years break to have her 2 boys. Claire then studied at the Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institute and achieved her Matwork 1 & 2 Pilates qualification and became a class teacher and learnt Antenatal/postnatal Pilates.

In 2004 she moved up to Ilkley, Yorkshire and shortly afterwards started working part-time at Carnegie Sports Physiotherapy Clinic, followed by another short break whilst she had her 3rd child Jessica. Claire returned to work a year later and has been working in the clinic ever since, also running a weekly Pilates class in the clinic.

Since working in the clinic Claire has taken a number of courses in Muscle Energy Technique, Patterns of Dysfunction of the lower extremity and pelvis and the upper extremity and also attended a course with Stuart Mcgill on ‘Building the Ultimate Back’.

Outside the clinic Claire keeps busy with her children and runs Pilates classes in Ilkley. She loves walking on the moors with family and runs regularly, last year competing in the Great North run for the first time. Claire also loves going on skiing holidays with her family. Finally, Claire also makes and ices novelty cakes and occasionally there is evidence these in the clinic.
