Profiles
Ruth Cockerill MCSP HPC
An ex England international for netball, Ruth combines being a physiotherapist with being a Personal Trainer.
Ruth has recently been away with three Great Britain Development boxers providing physiotherapy cover at a tournament in Germany, the Brandenburg Cup.
There were athletes from all over the world and the competition was fierce. One of the British boxers, Martin Ward won a bronze medal. This is promising as the development squad are on course to compete at the 2012 Olympics.
There were no serious injuries to look after which is a positive reflection on the quality of their physiotherapy injury prevention program. It was a successful event from both a professional viewpoint and in terms of the competition for the boxers.
Recently, Ruth was also away with five boxers from the Great Britain development boxing squad at the Junior European Championships. She was based in Szczecin, Poland for a seven day tournament with over 250 boxers.
Ruth is looking forward to developing her practice in rehabilitation, to assist this, Ruth attended the ACPSM conference in Leeds on the 4th September 2010 and Joanne Elphinston’s Multi Modal Movement: Systems Integration for Sports Performance and Rehabilitation course in Broxburn, Edinburgh on the 26th & 27th September 2010.
