GB BOXINGBRANDENBURG CUP 30th June-6th July
Ruth Cockerill has recently been away with three Great Britain Development boxers providing physiotherapy cover at a tournament in Germany, the Brandenburg Cup.
There were athletes from all over the world and the competition was fierce. One of the BG boxers, Martin Ward won a bronze medal. This is promising as the development squad are on course to compete as Olympic athletes in 2012.
There were no serious injuries to look after which is a positive reflection on the quality of their physiotherapy injury prevention programme. It was a successful event from both a professional viewpoint and in terms of the competition for the boxers.

CURRENT EVENTS – GB BOXINGJUNIOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – Poland: 14th-23rd August
Ruth Cockerill is currently away with five boxers from the Great Britain development boxing squad at the Junior European Championships. She is based in Szczecin, Poland for a seven day tournament with over 250 boxers.

UP COMING
Ruth Cockerill is looking forward to developing her practice in rehabilitation, attending the ACPSM conference in Leeds on the 4th September and Joanne Elphinston’s Multi Modal Movement: Systems Integration for Sports Performance and Rehabilitation course in Broxburn, Edinburgh on the 26th & 27th September.

An ex England international for netball, Ruth combines being a physiotherapist with being a Personal Trainer.

Ruth is in the process of changing sport and will be going to the Olympics in 2012 for handball. Doesn’t know who Seb Coe is and even worse thinks Sebco might be a television company.
