Sarah McDowell MCSP HPC

Recent Events

Sarah has recently returned from the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver. Whilst there Sarah worked with the – 2009 World Champions – Women’s Bob Sleigh Team- Team Minichiello!
Sarah spent 5 months with them using high level rehab work as they competed the world cup circuit and then went on to compete in the Olympics. In addition Sarah was effectively the team medic, dealing with any first aid issues that arose. Sarah stayed trackside dealing with any uncomfortable niggles whilst also doing the continual rehab to keep them competing.

This year Sarah has completed courses in:
Lumbar Pelvic Dysfunctions Manual Therapy Course
ACPSM sports massage course
Kinesiotape
Elbow, wrist and forearm

To add to her collections of skills Sarah is now fully qualified in acupuncture.

About Sarah

Sarah is currently working at the Northern Police Treatment Centre at St Andrews in Harrogate, delivering residential intensive rehabilitation for back pain to acl reconstructions to polytrauma to stress. Including pilates, hydrotherapy, gymball classes, lower limb and back classes, 1to1 treatments including soft tissue work, mobilisations and exercise prescription.

Before working for the Northern police treatment centre, Sarah worked in the NHS for 4 and a half years and worked at Leeds University in a private clinic on a part time basis for 2 years. Her vast knowledge on elective and trauma orthopaedics allows us to keep up to date on current surgical thoughts and procedures.

Her primary interests are snow boarding, mountain biking, water sports and squash.

Additionally Sarah is a fully qualified Pilates instructor for both one to one sessions and classes which adds further strength and depth to the clinic’s expertise in core conditioning.
